COVID-19 vaccines are highly effective at protecting people against severe illness and death. People with certain health conditions have a greater risk of severe COVID-19 and death, and as such have been prioritized for COVID-19 vaccination. Simplistic comparisons of vaccinated and unvaccinated people that don’t take into account potential differences in factors such as the health and age composition of the groups are liable to lead to inaccurate conclusions.
